Wall Flowers, 2013

It was in early spring of 2013 when, during a trip to the Oregon coast, the tulips were in full bloom, their brilliant colours shining in the bright coastal morning sun. After returning to the Okanagan where only the tulip leaves had emerged, I wanted to capture the colours for Wallflowers. This wall piece was constructed from a repurposed wool blanket, cut into narrow strips and then dyed in small batches many shades of yellow, orange, red and green. I added wet felted and hand dyed discs and natural wool strips of varying widths for variety.
