Me-Wandering, 2012

Me-Wandering maps a favourite pastime: walking through urban parks and neighbourhoods. The four layers of the collage represent the topographies of my experience and my environment. I created the felted rectangle by wet felting natural merino wool roving and silk fabric using nuno and shibori techniques. The texture and lines represents the outer landscape I traverse and the inner landscape of my thoughts and feelings. The second layer consists of a collagraph print of the Kelowna bridge under construction, printed on rice paper. For the third layer I painted a page of the business section of the Globe and Mail, representing the economic aspects of the cityscape. All this I anchored to a background of natural burlap.
