The game Mikado, or pickup sticks, inspired this work. Bamboo skewers can be wrapped in wool fibre in a myriad of colours and patterns and arranged in a way that suggests the randomness that is inherent in the dropping of the sticks to begin the game. I see an analogy between fate and this game.
